Central Japan Railway Company has revealed that it will launch an exclusive Evangelion collaboration event on its Tokaido Shinkansen trains for a limited time until January 2027. This crossover will primarily feature an audio drama with an original story chapter.
This audio drama will star Misato and Ritsuko, with Kotono Mitsuishi and Yuriko Yamaguchi reprising their respective roles. It will tell how the two NERV staff members surveyed Osaka and the rest of Kansai to find vacation spots for the five Evangelion pilots—Shinji, Rei, Asuka, Mari, and Kaworu—to unwind together.
In order to listen to this Evangelion audio drama, one must first register their own account on the JR Central website and then board the Tokaido Shinkansen train bound for Osaka in person. They must then access the provided track with a mobile device that supports GPS location and speed tracking.
The audio track will be available to listen to after the train has reached a certain speed upon leaving Shin-Yokohama station. Those who have actually listened to it can apply to obtain an exclusive keychain with the crossover art upon arriving in Osaka.
This collaboration is set to run concurrently with the All of Evangelion 30th Anniversary Exhibition, which will take place in Osaka until January 11, 2027. The JR group will also set up a poster promoting the crossover around the Nihombashi Entrance of Tokyo Station from December 9, 2026, to January 7, 2027.
The Evangelion collaboration event on JR Central Japan’s Tokaido Shinkansen trains will run from October 18, 2026, to January 31, 2027.
