Capcom announced at the 2026 Tokyo Game Show that Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance will mark the first appearance of the baby form of the recurring flying wyvern Khezu. Official art and a first teaser video for the new version of the monster appeared on social media. The company also confirmed the standard version of Khezu will return for the expansion.
The video showing a baby Khezu in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance is incredibly brief. It begins with a hunter crouching and the little monster nearby. It lets out a growl and shows its teeth. Then, it lunges at the player character to attack. It then attaches to them, like a leech, and seems to do constant damage while biting them.

The first bit of official art only showed up on the Japanese social media account. It features images of a baby Khezu at rest and while preparing to attack. Again, while in this form, it doesn’t have the wings or legs like the adult version of the creature.
The Khezu first appeared in the original Monster Hunter on the PS2 and has been a staple ever since. It’s last main entry appearance was Monster Hunter Rise, though we also saw the wyvern in all three Monster Hunter Stories entries. Capcom also regularly releases merchandise based on the character.
The Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 release date is December 4, 2026, and the game is already on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The Ascendance expansion is also in development, and we’ll see that in 2027. That expansion will also appear on the Switch 2.
