The Pokemon Company has revealed that it will sell new merchandise based on the Japanese Pokemon game covers in Japan on June 18, 2026. This collection will appear as part of celebrations for the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
This collection will cover all mainline and Legends games from the first-generation Game Boy releases in 1996 up until the Nintendo Switch releases in 2025. As a reminder, Japan had an exclusive release of Pocket Monsters Green that went along with the inaugural Pocket Monsters Red in February 1996, and the Western releases of Pokemon Red and Blue were based on the upgraded Pocket Monsters Blue that appeared in Japan in October 1996.
The lineup means that while it will also include Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as well as Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it will not include the upcoming 2027 releases of Pokemon Winds and Waves, which are still yet to have their final covers revealed as of early June 2026.
The lineup will primarily consist of pins, magnets, keychains, and T-shirts. Baseball caps and sacoche shoulder bags featuring the Japanese Pocket Monsters logo will also be part of this collection. The largest highlight will be the all-in-one framed collection of game package cover pins from the 1996-2025 releases, priced at ¥30,000 (~$187.35).
The new merchandise lineup based on Pokemon Japanese game covers will be available in Japan on June 18, 2026.
