Sega announced one of its April Fools’ Day 2026 jokes is that it is selling Sanic the Hedgehog, Knackles the Echidna, and Shedew Sonic shirts on its official online storefront. These will only be sold on April 1, 2026. Each one involves a design on a unisex, adult shirt made of cotton and polyester. As they are made-to-order, they will ship immediately after they are printed.
Sanic the Hedgehog is a meme and joke character that’s occasionally been used by Sega for fun things like this. For example, there’s a shirt with the character in Sonic Forces and for April Fools’ Day 2018 it sold another collection of merchandise based on this drawing. This time around, there’s a grey shirt with Sanic on it, a Sanic & Knackles black shirt with a logo that mimics the Sonic & Knuckles one, and dark grey Sanic & Shedew Adventure shirts. All are available in sizes small through 3XL. The small, medium, and large shirts are $32 each, the 2XL one is $34, and the 3XL one is $36.

It isn’t uncommon for Sega to actually create some sort of real item for April Fools’ Day for Sonic the Hedgehog. The other line of Sanic merchandise from 2018 is one example. Another is the free visual novel The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog. That showed up on April 1, 2023. There was the April 1, 2021 Sanic Chili Dogs G-Fuel drink mix too.
Sega will only sell the Sonic the Hedgehog Sanic, Knackles, and Shedew shirts on its official store on April 1, 2026.
