Sony announced yet another round of price increases for its current generation PlayStation 5 consoles and Portal device, and costs will go up for every PS5 model worldwide. However, people still have some time to pick up products at current prices. The changes will take effect on April 2, 2026, and it looks like $50-100 increases across the board based on current prices at places like PlayStation Direct, GameStop, and Amazon.
When bringing up the changes, Sony cited “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” This is in reference to the global memory supply shortage that started as a result to a shift by manufacturers to develop products with AI in mind. This in turn drove up prices on things like RAM. It follows 2025 price increases that were driven in part by President Donald Trump’s tariff policies.
Here are the coming PS5 and PlayStation Portal changes in prices for Sony PlayStation 5 devices. The greatest price increase is on the Pro model of the console, which is going up by $150. The PlayStation Portal will see the smallest jump, as that will be $50 more than before.
- PlayStation Portal - $199.99 to $249.99.
- PS5 Digital Edition - $499.99 to $599.99.
- PS5 - $549.99 to $649.99.
- PS5 Pro - $749.99 to $899.99.
All of the Sony price increases related to PlayStation 5 consoles like the PS5 Pro and peripherals like the Portal will go up worldwide on April 2, 2026.
